Four days after I arrived from Lebanon, I got on the scale. Ondrej was coming and I knew that he would be asking me for my weight after doing my measurements. When I got on the scale I didn’t want to look down. When I did, I was shocked and couldn’t believe the number that I saw. I checked it about 3 times and each time it showed the same number. I felt like crying. How did I manage to gain 4 kilos 4!? I was so active this summer and worked out every other day! My clothes fit well and I didn’t goof off with food. WHAT IS GOING ON?!! There’s no way that it’s all muscle! If that’s the case then no more workouts for me! As my mind was racing with 101 things I heard the door open and I knew it was Ondrej.

I tried hard to smile so he wouldn’t feel anything. We greeted each other and he began measuring me. He asked if I was ok and replied back with a nod. He started to measure my stomach and I saw his reaction. He then measured it again as though he was making sure he saw the right numbers! After the measurements he asked his famous question, which I was hoping he would forget, “What’s your current weight?” I took the pen to write it and then I realized the last time he had measured me was back in December! I saw his new measurements and the reason he took my stomach measurements twice was because the numbers had increased. Everywhere else the numbers were the same or less by a few inches. He saw my weight and said, “4 kilos hmmmm.” I explained my frustration and OF course he mentioned muscles after this summer! I listened but I wasn’t convinced!
Many people that have seen me have said, “Wow you lost weight!” or “You’re looking fit, you changed over the summer.” In my head I’m thinking that the scale says otherwise! UGH! I didn’t tell Dr. Lemia till 2 weeks later because I know she will lecture me and I know what she will say. “IGNORE THE SCALE!” Just like Ondrej always tells me.

I don’t’ think I can ever stop using a scale as numbers is everything to me! I’m just thankful that my clothes still fits well and that I can still wear them! Phew!
