Switch off & reenergize!

Thank God for the weekend. I just had one of the roughest weeks I have ever had. I am glad it’s over. There are so many things going on at once and at times it’s hard to keep up with. Friday is family day, one day out of the week should honestly be dedicated to spending time with your family. I wanted to disconnect from work and not be reached by anyone from work. Is it wrong to feel that way? So I decided to leave my work phone at home. It’s my time, my family, my sanity. I barely see my family during the week so I owe it to them to give them my undivided attention to them without any distraction.

We went out from 10am till 7pm. We were outdoors enjoying the weather and sun for a change. I must admit leaving my work phone at home felt as if I left my other half at home. It felt weird at first but I loved every minute of it. I thought what could possibly go wrong if I didn’t answer right away to an email or on whatsapp? Our school wouldn’t sink and life goes on. Whomever or whatever needed me can wait. I am there for everyone 6 days a week. 1 day won’t hurt anyone. I owed it to my family and to myself.

I came back home to find 74 messages waiting. None of it was an emergency and all could wait. PHEW! I was so glad to leave my phone at home. I felt great and less stressed and free in a way. I have decided from now on Fridays are MY day and therefore no work will be with me. It’s healthy and felt good.

As admin are we expected to be connected 24/7? Was what I did wrong?

  1. No what u did is not wrong. It’s important to learn to disconnect one way or the other.
I feel you should be aware of what’s happening 24/7.
