February = Body Reset!

February comes and my body decides to shut down every year for some bizarre reason. I have known my trainer for three years and according to him every February my body shuts down and I need to reset everything. I had never realized it before. Every February something happens and it’s always to do with my back and sciatic nerve. Why? I have no idea but it is frustrating. My disc always acts up as well. I see my orthopedic once a year and noticed that as well. I always need to do an x-ray to see, then I start physiotherapy and during my workout sessions I focus more on stretching.

During the month of February between my pain and work, I only workout three or four times at most. After I saw my physio therapist I told my trainer what I was asked to do. He’s been following it and the breathing techniques just like my doctor told me to do. I must say trying to focus on breathing and balancing or stretching is NOT an easy thing to do. But my trainer is very patient with me and he does not give up on me. He makes me stop and re do everything from the beginning. The minute I am not focused he can tell and I mess up everything and makes me start from the beginning. Yoga and pilates are not my thing but I need to start. According to my orthopedic doctor. I need to start sooner than later. I find that those classes put me to sleep to be honest. But if I don’t start then my doctor said, “You will lose your flexibility and mobility.” When he put it like that I got scared. Hopefully I will start soon and find the strength to go through those classes in hopes that my back pain stops and my sciatic nerves stops with it.

I have nothing to lose I guess. I am beginning to hate the month of February!

  1. Pilates is also excellent exercise for shaping the body, start and you will love it. Good luck, and hope you will feel better soon.
