A few days ago I received a whatsapp message from one of my closest friends with her BMI results and weight gain. She was going crazy and said, “OMG look, how will I lose this Dana?! I have 12 kilos to lose! This is the first time I reached this weight and I don’t have the patience like you….” and on and on she went. Mind you, it doesn’t look like she put on 2 kilos yet alone 12!!!
But the minute she was done complaining and venting I said, “Who used to lecture me every time I came down to Lebanon for the summer? Who used to tell me why are you eating this and that? Who used to say to exercise and I would feel better? Who used to tell me to be healthy for my kids so that I could run and play with them? WHO??” And she went quiet. I said, “ok, so you gained 12kg, does that mean we need to cry over it? Or is this a wake up call to get back on track? You went off track for two years or so, big deal. It’s not too late. You have no kids and can hit the gym and then off you go to work. You cook and I don’t, yet I am eating healthy and have kids and the gym comes to me! What’s your excuse? NOTHING. So get your act together and stop dwelling over the gain and you need to wake up tomorrow and be positive.” She kept saying that she couldn’t do it but I totally ignored her comments. I never once thought I’d be the one telling her all of this like she used to do to me. Now 2 years later the tables have turned and it’s me helping her get back on track. I send her a list/pictures of what I am eating and her reply is always “You are full from only that??” I just laugh and say, “yes, it’s a matter of getting used to.” I also send her my workout videos to motivate her. Yesterday I sent her a picture of myself, my hubby and kids walking to the grocery store and she replied with a photo of the monitor of the aqua bike. I was so happy then and there! This shows that she’s slowly getting back into it and I felt so happy for her. I won’t leave her alone in the summer when I go down to Lebanon. I will make sure we go and workout together. It’s crazy how the tables have turned and I am the one trying to help her out. She will get back on track, I will make sure of that!
👌👌👌Good job motivating her! She should read: The easy way for women to lose weight by Allen Carr. It will help her get on track a lot!
