We had 10 minutes to eat and decompress and instead the KG AP and I sat down and wrote our very own AP job description. We listed what we do minute by minute from the moment we enter the school till the time we leave. Yes our official working hours is from 7:15 till 3. But we are always here by 6:30 am and we leave by 4pm at the earliest. There are days that that we leave at 5pm depending on what we have to do since there is never any time during the day.
This is a list of what we came up with. These tasks are not in any order as we just jotted them down as it came to us.

- We set up the newbies apartments
- Orientation
- Scheduling
- Duty schedules
- Planning school events
- Making sure teachers are on duty for students safety
- Planning PD’s
- SST meetings and the supports that goes with it
- Students welfare
- Admission testing
- Meetings
- Unexpected parent meetings
- Answering parents emails at any given time
- Subbing
- Being out at every recess
- Managing students behavior as they get sent to us or that we see out while on recess
- Making time to see teachers when they need us
- Taking care of staff’s well-being
- Purchasing food for events
- Providing references for staff
- Staff evaluations
- Liaison with workers at the school
- Check bathroom cleanliness
- Support teachers with classroom management
- Help staff with their GOALS and check in on February and May with each of them
- Morning walkins
- Being on call for our staff in case of an emergency during the weekend
- Being able to decide whatever comes your way right then and there
- Providing feedback/solutions for staff when they ask for it at any given time
- Coaching staff
- Making sure staff feels appreciated
- Attending assemblies
I am sure we missed out a lot of things because this list seems way too short. But I am sure you get the picture of how our lives are in this position. More importantly we are there for our staff helping them and supporting them at any given time and we are always smiling no matter what is happening behind the scenes.
